According to a report by the Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority (SAGIA), the country currently has a deficit of around 15,000 doctors and 20,000 nurses. There is a projected 18% population increase from 2018 to 2030 (an additional 6 million people) placing increased demand on hospital capacity and quality. Our mission is to close the healthcare gap by recruiting and retaining the best medical professionals, ensuring that the growing demands of an increasing population are met with exceptional hospital capacity and quality care.
The McKinsey Global Institute (MGI) report suggested that the Saudi government needs to move away from the current government-led economic model towards a more market-based approach. The private healthcare sector owns only 24% of hospital beds (about 17,622 out of 72,981) and 32% of hospitals (158 out of 487), pointing to what is likely to be a rapid increase in demand for healthcare workers and private hospitals in the run-up to 2030.

Currently, there are 11 serving healthcare professionals per 1000 people. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will need to double its workforce to achieve the G20 average of 22 healthcare professionals per 1000 people. With over 23,100 expat physicians required to move to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the next five years to fulfil the goals set out for Vision 2030 (part of a workforce that is 73% foreign), there is a huge need for a company – like SAMECO – which focuses exclusively on solving this problem.
